INFORMATION

NoctiLumina is the best watch luminizing material available today. It is specifically designed to be applied to watch and instrument faces and hands. NoctiLumina absorbs light from the sun or artificial sources and then glows for up to 36 hours.

PIGMENTS

A wide variety of NoctiLumina pigments are available, including several that are readable for up to 36 hours in the dark (tested with a 2 mm diameter by 0.5 mm dot after exposure to sunlight for 15 minutes). The pigments are nontoxic, non-acidic and non-radioactive. All can be applied by hand or silkscreened with mesh sizes selected based on particle sizes. The pigments are very stable, with lifetimes conservatively expected to be in excess of 20 years. In general, the pigments with larger particle sizes glow the longest and brightest. However, the new G8UF has surprising performance and is highly recommended both for its ease of application (it applies much like a paint) and for its all-night-long glow time. It also has an improved capability to charge in indoor fluorescent lighting environments.

NoctiLumina G8UF and B8UF pigments have a unique chemistry that makes them completely immune to degradation by water or humidity. This makes them especially suitable for use on diver bezels or other external surfaces.

PIGMENT TINTING

The NoctiLumina Tinting Kit was recently introduced. It is used to modify the body color of any pigment. Available tint colors are Red, Texaco Red, Orange, Dark Blue, Bright Blue, Turquoise, Yellow, Gold, Violet, Dark Green, Bright Green, and Brown. For example; using Gold and Brown tints can provide a variety of “aged lume” effects. (Note: even though these colors are specially engineered to allow light to pass through for charging, heavy tinting can affect luminance.)
