Mil-Spec Teflon Polymer Coating

INFORMATION

This is not the Teflon used in coating skillets. This coating is not paint. It is military specified high PTFE Teflon and molybdenum disulfide in a thermally cured, phenolic-epoxy polymer base. This coating is the hardest, most durable, chemical and heat resistant thermally cured finish available. It will permanently bond to the surface to form a barrier to acids, oils, paint remover, powder solvents, bore cleaners and other strong industrial solvents. The extremely low curing temperature (300-350 degrees F) prevents possible damage to parts during the curing process.

Developed specifically for firearms used by Naval Special Warfare (SEALS) and the Marine Corps Reconnaissance Units to their specifications and provides a surface finish with optimum corrosion protection, abrasion resistance, and lubricity.

Passed numerous military tests including resistance to corrosion and fluids (60 days in sea water, jet fuel, oil, hydraulic fluid and paint thinner just to name a few), thermal stability (500 to -58 degrees Fahrenheit), impact resistance and abrasion resistance.

Keep in mind, this is a finish, so it is possible to scratch it. But, any coated or finished watch can be scratched. However, this teflon polymer does not scratch easy (remember the miliitary uses it) and if you do scratch the watch after this coating, you are also taking metal with the coating, and the watch would have been scratched anyway.

Teflon polymer coating process is done by a former RECON Marine. He was issued weapons with this same coating and was trained in firearm refinishing and applied this coating to weapons while in the US military.

COLORS

Colors currently available are satin black, flat black, satin OD green, flat OD green, and desert tan.

PRICE

Parts to be teflon coated are cleaned, bead blasted (120 mesh aluminum oxide at 40 pounds of pressure) and cleaned again to insure an even, durable tefon polymer coating. The price to coat a watch case, case back, crown and rotating ring (like the Seiko in the photos) is $195 plus return shipping. Other brands and/or types of watches could be higher.
